This painting in digital form will be taken to the Moon by NASA - see in the NEWS section.
NASA will send scientific instruments to the Moon, over 2022 to 2025. Along with NASA instruments, these missions will carry commercial payloads, including the time capsules that make up The Lunar Codex.
The Codex will be the first significant placement of contemporary arts on the Moon in 50+ years. While focused on visual art, the Lunar Codex also includes a substantial collection of contemporary books, stories, poetry, essays, music, films, and more.
As an arts and culture project, the Lunar Codex has been called the most expansive, international, and diverse collection of contemporary culture launched to the Moon. A documentary being filmed about the Lunar Codex is calling it a time machine from today to the future - and from the future to today.
At its essence, the Lunar Codex is a time capsule, a message-in-a-bottle to future generations.
János Kubus is the first contemporary artist from Hungary whose artworks will be sent to the Moon.
Story about artwork:
"Don't you ever feel we live a strange life? We spend less time in personal conversations and meetings with loved ones and friends. But the more time we spend with our mobile.
He became our closest companion. Usually it is the first person we look at in the morning and who we attend to in the morning. And he is the last to whom we pay our attention before we fall asleep in the evening ...
But not only for taking pictures ... With it, we take pictures several times a day. Then we pick the best selfie we hope to look like a movie star. And we fast him. Wherever you can. Let all of us fight. Friends, acquaintances, enemies, unknown ...
May they envy our beauty and perfection. Day by day we live in greater illusions, in more distorted images of our own perfection.
We look at our photos instead of looking at ourselves more often. To see our true face, our own SELF. However, we only look at the photos, and our identity is hidden from us. Of course, there are exceptions. Like the young man in the middle picture ... He didn't lose himself. Although he doesn't have a cell phone ... "
