I love New York City.
I have traveled a good part of the world and brought back unforgettable experiences from everywhere. But no place beats New York City for this. What a person experiences there in one day, how many different inspirations for my work I always gather there, would be enough for me for many years. Whether it is the stories of people from the always busy and crowded streets, where the pulse of life never stops, or the unique architecture with dominating skyscrapers - this is an inexhaustible well of ideas for a visual artist like me.
In New York, all my senses are working at full speed. The eyes cannot choose what to pay more and what less attention, because there is so much that is worth looking at. My brain then stores these visual sensations in memory as photographs so that I can incorporate them into the canvas at home.
At the same time, thousands of different sounds are pressed into the ears. From the roar of car engines, honking, braking to the clamor of a human anthill.
However, some smells of food served by street vendors waft into my nose, so I have to stop at some of them and stimulate my taste buds with hitherto unexperienced goodies.
It would take days to talk about New York City. Whether you've been there or not, I offer you a piece of New York City in my paintings.
All are painted with acrylic on a 3.5 cm thick poplar wood panel.
